USS Miami returns from deployment
The Los Angeles class fast-attack submarine (SSN 755) USS Miami will return Tuesday (January 29, 2007) to Naval Submarine Base New London after a regularly scheduled six-month deployment. USS Miami was attached to the USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) Expeditionary Strike Group conducting a wide range of national security and maritime security operations under the U. S. Central Command.
According to the Navy fast attack submarines such as the USS Miami have multi mission capabilities. Among them, the USS Miami, is able to deploy and support special forces operations, disrupt and destroy an adversary’s military and economic operations at sea Further the USS Miami is able to provide an early strike from close proximity and ensures undersea superiority of the United Sates. The USS Miami made port visits to Rota, Spain and Haifa, Israel.
