US Navy Calls for Increased Maritime Cooperation to Combat Threats at Sea
Admiral Robert F. Willard, commander of the U.S. Pacific fleet, outlined a new U.S. maritime strategy at the Australian Navy Sea Power Conference 2008. The maritime security strategy involves a closer cooperation between the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard. Moreover he also told the conference that U.S. forces will pursue a greater role in the Asia-Pacific region.
