Department of Homeland Security increased funding for port security
Department of Homeland Security announced February 1, 2008 the details for 14 different grant programs for the fiscal year 2008. Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff noted that port security funding this year increased by $76 million to a total of almost $390 million. Among the top tier ports were Delaware Bay, Houston-Galveston, Los Angeles-Long Beach, New Orleans, New York-New Jersey, Puget Sound, and San Francisco. Download DHS Port Security Guidance 2008
