Mombasa Port increases its Port Security Efforts to attract Cruise Ships
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is currently improving its port security measures. This comes barely two weeks after a number of cruise ships have removed Mombasa from their itinerary due to the security situation in Kenya. Among the many security measures are the introduction of container scanners to aid in the detection of explosives and contraband and the establishment of special maritime police units. Moreover, the surrounding areas of cruise ships are to be pronounced maritime exclusion zones. According to port officials this will allow for better security as the area can be easy controlled and monitored.
