According to several sources, Egyptian authorities foiled an Al Qaeda sponsored attack against the Suez Canal and the adjacent oil pipeline. According to Egyptian sources, the terror group consisted of 24 Egyptians and was led by a Palestinian. Most of the members were highly educated engineers and technicians. The group was mainly funded through Islamic charities abroad and received training through communicating with Al Qaeda terrorists on Jihadi Web sites.
