Pirates Paralyze Nigeria’s Fishing Industry

Economic activities in Ibeno, a fishing settlement in Akwa Ibom State, has slowed down following attacks on fishermen by sea pirates. The attacks, which have compelled fishermen to withdraw from the seas, are having adverse effects on revenue generation by the Ibeno Local Government Area.

Update: Pirates sized tug boat Svitzer Korsakov in the Gulf of Aden

Fox News reported that U.S. warships fired on Somali pirates trying to resupply colleagues on the hijacked a Danish owned tug boat Svitzer Korsakov. The Svitzer Korsakov with its six hostages is currently stationed 25 miles east of Ely, a coastal town 560 miles north of Mogadishu, Somalia.
