African nations working for maritime security

Representatives from 10 East African nations, along with coalition partners from the United Kingdom, France and the United States participated in a week-long working group in Djibouti to help lay a foundation for partnership in the realm of maritime security.

U.S. Navy is currently installing an Automatic Identification System (AIS) in Gambia. The system was developed by the U.S. Government in an effort to allow African Nations to better control their maritime territory and thus increase maritime security in the region.
